Pre-Employment Transition ServicesARISE
Advocacy, Readiness, Independence, Skills & Empowerment
ARISE supports young people and adults with disabilities as they prepare for employment, postsecondary education, and greater independence. Its curriculum is mapped session by session to Washington State's five Pre-Employment Transition Services categories: job exploration, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, postsecondary counseling, and work-based learning. Participants receive practical instruction in job searches, resumes, interviews, workplace rights, financial literacy, and independent-living skills, alongside internships and paid work-based learning opportunities.

ARISE is also delivered at Echo Glen Children's Center under contract with the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families, where it operates as MyJOB: My Journey Out Beyond. ARISE is funded in part through DVR Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS).

Enrollment at Echo Glen is delivered through smaller cohorts and capped by facility rules on how many students can be in a classroom at once, so the number served reflects operating conditions and classroom capacity, not a lack of student demand. The raw 19-of-27 figure doesn't tell the full story: during the five-month reporting period, 12 participants transferred to community facilities and 7 were released from Echo Glen, often with little advance notice, and 5 exited while still completing the curriculum, including one who had earned 24 of 25 competencies and another who had earned 23 of 25. Every young person who remained at Echo Glen and stayed engaged in the program completed it. The state's completion threshold is 20 of 25 competencies; completers averaged 24.3, and nine completers achieved all 25.
